We understand why a training centre may want to collect medical information when a student is signing up for a course. Broad Reach Bookings collect this information after course sign-up for the following reasons:
- Collecting at course sign-up can interrupt and even stop the course sign-up process. At this stage of signing up the process should be as smooth and easy as possible to ensure a spot is booked, and the training centre has the client information to hand so the ball is in their court to manage any disclosed medical information.
- Return clients or those booking multiple courses should not need to duplicate their information. We pre-populate student information when they return for additional courses, reducing their workload on sign-upl
- People make all kinds of assumptions about whether medical conditions will be accepted or rejected, and some people are also embarrased about their medical conditions. This can be enough for someone to avoid signing up without the training centre having the opportunity to guide them through.
- Less than 5% of people have medical conditions that would preclude them from attending a course, so collecting this information after booking allows the booking to proceed unhindered, and then to collect this information automatically thereafter.
- If someone is making a multi-person booking with other friends or people they may not know their intricate medical and other details, it can then become too hard to make the booking.
You'll notice that in our live demos clients have the ability to filter by the type of boat. However if you only have one vessel (or if you have multiple vessels and turn the feature off) the option to Choose Boat will be hidden by default.
Broad Reach Bookings is built specifically for RYA Training Centres, not for a broad range of businesses who need booking software. That means it is built with features that make it very powerful software for it's purpose, which will become evident once you gain access to the training centre portal. There are features you will not find elsewhere like instructor qualification management, the ability to track certificates and course completions, and automated marketing based on courses completed.
The software is built to reduce costs and increase revenue, increasing your business margins, and we are confident that the savings on manual labour within your training centre alone will cover the costs of using the software in your business. The cherry on top is the additional bookings we find centres receive due to the way information is presented to the clients.
There are a few failsafes you can build to help this process, make bookings easier for yourself, but also catch any bookings that might not be right. For example:
- ensuring the right information is displayed on your website, including any recommended pre-requisite courses or experience requirements.
- we have an automated email that goes to clients after booking that asks them to confirm their prior experience to be passed on to their instructor. This will highlight whether there is a mismatch between the course they signed up for, and their experience. If there is a mismatch, then communicating with the client can easily clarify which course is best for them, and changing the course they are registered for in the booking system is a breeze.
